BLUSHING BEAUTY: 5 ways to up your blush game

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

If you think there’s only one way to apply your blush — think again! Like most items on your makeup stash, your favorite blush can be as versatile as you want it to be, it all depends on your application. If you’re looking for creative ways to use your blushes, here are a few of them.

Look # 1: THE CLASSIC

One of the most conventional ways to put rouge on your face and for good reason! This look concentrates the color on the apples of the cheeks to create an illusion of natural flush and evenly balances out the features on the face.

Pro-tip: Use pinkish hues and applying it in circular motions on the apples of the cheeks to both widen and brighten the face.

Look # 2: COLOR CONTOUR

A look popular in the 80’s blush is used to create dimensions on the face making it appear sharper. Color is diffused evenly starting from the tops of the cheeks towards the bottom cheekbones.

Pro-tip: Use slightly brighter hues for a funky look.

Look # 3: DRAPED

A look popularized by Rihanna, this gives off an editorial vibe for anyone who wears. Concentrate the color of your choice from the temples towards the underside of your cheekbones and look runaway-ready.

Pro-tip: Use hues that are slightly shimmery that’ll reflect whenever you turn.

Look # 4: ALL-OVER GLOW

This look gives off a more natural vibe as color is used not only on the cheeks but also the forehead and the chin.

Pro-tip: Start off from the cheeks, so the color is mostly concentrated in that area and move on to the forehead and chin so it more subtle than the cheek area.

Look # 5: PUNCH-DRUNK

Made popular by Korean idols and our very own Nadine Lustre, this technique concentrates color on areas where you naturally have a little color (the apples of the cheeks and the nose) to give off a more younger-looking vibe.

Pro-tip: This look works best with cream products in pinkish or reddish hues.
