The beauty industry has seen some major changes in the past couple of years which reflects how the consumers have changed or are more likely becoming more aware of their choices in what they put into their faces. But with a loosely regulated industry and so many brands to consider, it might get a little overwhelming if you’re a beginner. That’s why we’ve compiled all the necessary information you might need if you’re considering going green.
THE TREND
What used to be a niche category has easily become the most steadily-rising in the beauty industry in part of who the consumers are. Millennials and Gen Z-ers who are becoming more nitpicky about what goes into their skin ave been the main target of this industry. Allergens, environmental stresses, and impact are one of the biggest reasons why consumers are choosing to be more choosy about their products and the industry has been adjusting to meet the demand. Well-established and indie brands are now coming up with formulations that are simpler and have few contaminants and the trend seems to have no signs of stopping anytime soon since it is predicted to expand up to 11.1% in the coming years.
A Glossary to Clean Beauty

Vegetarian products usually contain no animal parts in its formulation but it does have animal by-products in it.
FRAGRANCE-FREE VS. UNSCENTED
Fragrance-free products are made without synthetic fragrances and may have a trace of scent from natural ingredients.

TIPS TO GOING CLEAN
1. Read carefully
Scanning product labels with an eagle eye are one of the keys to finding out whether or not products are clean or falsely advertised by their brands. Clean products usually sport fewer ingredients so watch out for them.
2. Do your research
Another important reminder is to do research on what ingredients are there to avoid, what formulation suits your skin better and what brands are most trusted by consumers and experts. It never hurts to be educated especially in your clean cause.
3. Support Local
Local brands are stepping up their game in the industry with quality products for reasonable prices. It also doesn't hurt that you're supporting the livelihood of many local workers.
